The Field Report · re-verified weekly
We have pulled in and read 6952 calls to build this. 2457 survived vetting, across 57 countries — up 3871 since August 24. The rest were duplicates, dead links, closed deadlines, or fee farms. Each record that stays is re-verified against its own live listing before an artist ever sees it.
Last verification pass: September 202601 · The headline nobody prints
Aggregate lists keep circulating calls that closed months ago, and some that no longer exist at all. Deadlines pass, foundations dissolve, pages move. Most opportunity lists never get re-checked. This one gets re-checked every week.
02 · The fee truth
The fee farms are loud, but they're not typical. Serious grants and residencies are overwhelmingly free to enter; a reasonable juried show charges about the cost of a tube of cadmium red. Calls where the entry fee is the point don't make it into our library.
03 · The broken doors
In our most recent link audit (August 2026), 1 in 11 application links on live calls led to error pages, moved applications, or security warnings. Every application link gets tested before a call reaches an artist.
04 · Why this page exists
58% of the Departist library has been re-verified within the last 30 days: status, deadline, geographic eligibility, accepted media, and link health. Records we can't verify get quarantined, not shown. Departist doesn't make art and doesn't learn from yours - it's software on your side of the table that searches the funding world, vets out the fee farms, and tells you the truth.
Departist matches vetted calls to your medium, your level, and where you live, and emails you the few worth your time, with the honest case against each one.
